Mr. Roland E. Vogt, 69, of 5231 Center Rd., Manitowoc, died Monday morning, Oct. 10, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newtonburg. The Rev. Keith Haberkorn will officiate and burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Newtonburg.
Mr. Vogt was born July 17, 1914, at Newton, son of the late Herman and Caroline Hacker Vogt. He married Vivian Kluess on Sept. 19, 1945, at Appleton. He graduated from the Manitowoc Business College and after graduation entered the Military Service. He was a Veteran of World War II, entering service on Jan. 28,
1941, and serving overseas in the European Theatre of Operations with 306 Medical Corp. He was discharged on Nov. 8, 1945. He then began to farm in the Town of Newton in 1945 until the time of his retirement. He served as director of the Newton State Bank for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He also was director of the Lakeshore Farm Management Association for several years. He was a member of St.
John Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and school board.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; a son, Dennis Vogt, residing on the family farm; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Scott Metskas of Stevens Points (sic), Junelle and Gary Moritz of Manitowoc and Beverly and Russel Glaeser of Appleton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Laurine and Karl Schramm of
Manitowoc; four grandchildren. Amanda Metskas, Rebecca and Lindsey Moritz, and Timothy Glaeser, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded
in death by a sister, Linda Born, a brother, Edmund Vogt, and a brother-in-law, Walter Born.
Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and then at the church from noon to the time of services.
