Rest in Peace Aunt Peg

Emma C. (Sarvey) (Burr) Burkett, age 91, of Brookville, PA, passed away as a resident of the Village at Laurelbrooke Landing on Friday, February 24, 2017.

Emma was born on September 21, 1925, to the late Alonzo and Jospehine (Swires) Sarvey, in Brookville, PA.

She attended and graduated from the Brookville High School with the class of 1944. On January 28, 1946, she married Gilbert L. Burr; Gilbert preceded her in passing on June 29, 1968. On August 8, 1970, she married Elvin C. Burkett; Elvin also preceded her in passing on February 21, 2006.

Shortly after high school, Emma began working for the Brookville Glove Factory. She then made a move with her family to New York where she began working for Sylvania. She eventually moved backed to Corsica, picking up her job at the Glove Factory. Once more she made a job change and worked for the Jefferson County Home. When Gilbert passed she went back to work for the Glove Factory; this last move back only lasted a short while, and then Emma retired. She was a member of the Alpha Assembly of God in Clarion, PA, and she loved attending church. Emma held a position as Sunday School Teacher and she loved reading her bible. Her life was molded by her feelings and devotion to the Lord. She also enjoyed simpler things like putting puzzles together, swimming, and participating as a poll monitor in Roseville during the elections.

More than anything she loved her family and looked forward to spending time with them. She would host and encourage large family gatherings - nothing brought her more joy. Emma is survived by 2 daughters; Thelma (Harold) Gromley, Carol (Gary) Hoffman; 2 sisters; Barbara (Gabe) Borrelli, Martha (Lee) Rowles; 2 brothers; James G. (Ann) Sarvey, Larry Sarvey; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to both husband's and parents, Emma is preceded in death by 2 sisters; Mona Zehfus, Joan Burkett; 1 son; Harry Burr; and 1 granddaughter; Bridgette Ann Burr.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 27, 2017, from 2 - 5pm, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.
