William "Billy" R. Mehaffy, 22, of rural New London died suddenly Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Great River Medical Center.
Born September 27, 1994 in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Robert E. and Paula S. (Staff) Mehaffy.
Billy was a 2013 graduate of Danville High School and completed the two year welding program for certification in 2015 from Southeastern Community College. Billy was a lifetime dairy farmer and had shown dairy cows at Iowa State Fair for many years.
Billy was of the Christian faith. He loved fishing, swimming in the creek, bonfires, riding horses and 4-wheelers, swing dancing, and spending time with his family, friends, and his cows.
Survivors include his parents, Robert and Paula Mehaffy of rural New London; two brothers, Erik Mehaffy and Jason Mehaffy both of New London; one sister, Mindy (Jesse) Logan of Mediapolis; one niece, Bailey; one nephew, Kelly; maternal grandmother, Carol Staff of New London, and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather, and uncle Leon Staff.
