Hilda Miller
Paullina, Iowa – Hilda Miller, 98, of Sioux City, formerly of Paullina, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Siloam Lutheran Church in Paullina, with the Rev. Stephen Geiger officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Saturday, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
Hilda Miller, the daughter of William and Sophia (Ebert) Tesch, was born March 3, 1907, in Marcus Township of Cherokee County, Iowa. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown, Iowa.
On Dec. 28, 1924, she was united in marriage to Chares L. Miller at her parents' home in Caledonia Township of O'Brien County, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple farmed south of Paullina for many years before retiring in 1964. The couple moved into Paullina in 1968. They remained in Paullina until moving to the north park Senior Living in Sioux City in May 1994. She had been making her home at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1998, in Sioux City.
She was baptized on March 24, 1907, and later confirmed on April 24, 1921, at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. She was currently a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Leslie and Joan Miller of Paullina; two daughter and their husbands, Lila Jones Hucke and Hugo Hucke of Cherokee, Iowa, and Linda and Byron Stanley of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Roxane, Carol, Scott, Todd, Terry and Troy; 10 great-grandchildren, Bill, Tom, John, Adam, Alex, Stephanie, Tasha, Jeremy, Anne and Ryan; four great-great-grandchildren, Skyler, Dalton, Collin and Abigail; two half sisters, Marcella Appeldorn and Luetta Dau, both of Paullina; a half brother, Leroy Mesner of Primghar, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Nola Tesch of Everly, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, LuVerne; a granddaughter, LaDonna; a great-great-grandson, Alec; her parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
