Leo W. Dier, 80, 1405 State St., Algoma, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at the Dorchester Health and Rehab., Sturgeon Bay. He was born Aug. 12, 1919, in Forestville to the late Michael and Helen (Feuerstein) Dier. Leo worked at Dier Construction Co. in Algoma for many years, then he worked for the city of Algoma until he retired in 1985. He married the former Ruth Novak Sept. 2, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Survived by his wife, step-children and their families, three sisters, Catherine Kuffner, Mukwonago; Irene Rohr and Frances LeBotte, both of Algoma; special nephew, Norbert Dier and special niece, Fran Pavlik, both of Algoma; and many other nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa; and seven brothers, John, William, Carl, Alfred, Elmer, Herbert and Raymond Dier.
