Christian Fouse was the third-born child of Daniel B. Fauss and Philippina "Phoebe" Datherina Feick, born January 14, 1847 in Lowell, Washington County, Ohio. It is not known when he changed the spelling of his surname from Fauss to Fouse.

In 1870 in Washington County, Ohio, he married Catherine B. Leonhart. They had five children: John in 1872; William in 1873; George in 1876; Elizabeth in 1880; and Anna in 1881. Christian died in Parkersburg on July 8, 1919, and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg. Catherine died in 1918 and is buried next to him. There is NO gravestone for Christian or his wife Catherine, but the photo foreground is the location of their plot.
