She was born in St. Louis on May 10, 1931, the daughter of the late Edward A. Marquette and the late Adeline (Woitchek) Marquette.
On May 16, 1954, Virginia was united in marriage to Gordon V. Nolte who preceded her in death.
Virginia worked at Callaway Bank and United Security Bank of Auxvasse until she began her family. After she raised her daughters, she worked for the Missouri Egg Council and the Missouri Beef Council giving presentations to local schools and civic organizations. Virginia was involved in the Callaway County Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Auxvasse Happy Homemakers Club. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Fulton.
Virginia’s memory will be cherished by her two daughters, Jann Merry (Steve) of Hartford, Wi., and Jill Walker (Roger) of Columbia, Mo.; sister, Ruth Gilman (James) of Auxvasse; five grandchildren, Matthew Merry of Endeavor, Wi., Ginger Merry (Brannan) of Denver, Co., Daniel Merry of Milwaukee, Wi., Erin Schweiss (Eric) of Farmington, Mo., and Trevor Walker of Denver, Co.; and great grandchildren, Willa and Jack Schell of Denver, Co.
Along with her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Marquette, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Maupin Funeral Home with Father Frank Bussmann officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Auxvasse Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to Auxvasse Cemetery or St. Peter Catholic Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
