Jack was born on September 21, 1955, in Manitowoc, the oldest child of Chester and Mary (Marlborough) Vogel. He was raised in School Hill until age 13 and attended Meeme School. In 1968, the family moved to Kiel. Jack graduated from Kiel High School in 1973.
In 1976, Jack was diagnosed with schizophrenia and suffered from that disease for the rest of his life. He resided in numerous health care facilities in the area. Jack worked as an auto mechanic for a few years after high school. He also worked at Holiday House in Manitowoc and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul store in Kiel for many years.
Jack was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. He was a faithful Christian and had a kind and caring soul. He enjoyed art and coloring projects, collecting Hot Wheels, going out to eat, Saturday afternoon masses, car rides in the country with his mom, and visits with all of his family members. Jack looked forward to going to Kiel football games, car shows, and fishing with his brother Jim. Jack's greatest joy in life was coming home to Kiel every weekend to spend time with his mom. He is survived by his mother Mary Vogel of Kiel, brother Jim (Sandy) Vogel of Kiel, and sisters Jayne (Jeff) Nilles of Los Altos, California, Jean (Ken) Binversie of St. Nazianz, Judy (Rene) Jelinek of Kiel, Jodi (Terry) Riesterer of Menomonee Falls, and Jill (Tony) Weigert of Elkhart Lake. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Brad Vogel, Jason Vogel, Sarah Vogel, Melissa Nilles, Christina Nilles, Holly (Steve) Haensgen, Katie Binversie, Kelly Jelinek, Elton Jelinek, Garrett Jelinek (Godson), Jamie Schneider, Jenna Riesterer, Jessi Riesterer, Alex Weigert, and Addison Weigert. Jack is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Jack was preceded in death by his father Chester Vogel, his grandparents Walter and Marie (Schmitt) Vogel and Cyril and Helen (Gintner) Marlborough, and his cousin Jimmy Marlborough.
Funeral services for Jack will be held at 11:30AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, the burial will take place at Kiel City Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Saturday from 9:00AM until 11:15AM when brief family rites will be held.
