John Mosie Brooks, 57, of 345 Fifteenth Avenue NE, Hickory, died unexpectedly at 9:30 a.m. while working with the S.H. Kirkpatrick Company of Traveler's Rest, S.C. He was a millwright.

Mr. Brooks was born August 26, 1903 at Gainesville, Ga., a son of Dan and Margie Spain Brooks now of Ellenboro. His wife, Lillian Beck Brooks, survives.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tues-day at the chapel of Hickory Funeral Home, with the Rev. William F. Melvin and the Rev. Clyde Jones officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The body will be taken to the residence from the funeral home at 4 p.m. today and will be returned to the chapel of the funeral home to lie in state from 3:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and parents, include three brothers, D.J. Brooks of Hilde-bran, Lloyd Brooks of Route Two, Hoschton, Ga., and Fred Brooks of Greensboro; and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Hodges of Ellenboro, Mrs. Joe Langford of Shelby, and Mrs. Clyde Jones of Taylorsville.

The cause of John's death was coronary atherosclerosis with occlusion and failure.
