John (Jay) West of Nashville, TN passed away March 1, 2017 at Centennial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raphael Benjamin West, and Mary Humes Meadors West.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Dunnebacke West; daughter, Andrea West Doll; brother, Ben (Phillis) West Jr.; mother-in-law, Sue Dunnebacke Gunn; Sister-in-law, Gina (Bill) Knox; Brother-in-laws, Kevin Dunnebacke, Mike (Linda) Gunn; and special nieces and nephews.
Jay West was the former Vice-Mayor of Nashville. In addition, he served for 12 years on the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County. He spent two years of his career in Washington, D.C., where he served as a Legislative Assistant to the United States House of Representatives.
Mr. West has many years of professional lobbying experience and was serving as the Executive Director of County Officials Association of Tennessee. He was a graduate of Leadership Nashville and of Leadership Middle Tennessee. He received degrees from Castle Heights, Belmont University and Nashville School of Law.
Mr. West was a member of Faith Methodist Church.
Interment will take place at Nashville City Cemetery.
