Edward was probably born October 9, 1878 in Gardiner, Kennebec County, Maine. In the 1900 US Federal Census he reported a date of birth as October of 1869 while the 1920 census he reproted 1863. The only definitive record we have is a WWII Draft Registration card. His true age was always a "mystery"!
He was first married to Lillian "Lilla" BABB (?) and probablly never divorced her. Lilla listed herself as married in the 1930 US Census, but Edward was not a member of the household. That's largely because he was raising a new family with Edith in Rhode Island. She also listed herself as a widow in 1940 a few years prior to Edward's death! Well, he was "dead" to her at least...
