Irene Bottoms Evans, 83, passed away Jan. 22, 2007, at Nash General Hospital. She was born in Edgecombe County, Oct. 7, 1923. She was the daughter of the late William Roger "Bill" and Katie Taylor Evans. She was a homemaker and was a member of Proctors Chapel Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. While living in Salisbury, Md., she attended Calvary Chapel Ocean Gateway. She loved gardening and enjoyed loving and being loved by everyone. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband, Dewey C. "Click" Evans Sr.; one daughter, Lois Ann Hill and husband Scott of Harrington, Del.; one son, D.C. Evans Jr. and wife Judy of Salisbury, Md.; one sister, href="https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=107140622">Bessie Estelle Bottoms Proctor of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Evans was predeceased by one sister, Bluma Pearl Bottoms Adams; and brothers, Richard, Callie Floyd Bottoms, Elisha Thomas Bottoms, George Burnice Bottoms, Wedell, Norman Earl Bottoms, Sidney and Leslee Bottoms. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home and Crematory, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. A funeral will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Billy Webb and the Rev John Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Mount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 2636, Chapel Hill, NC 27515 or the Alzheimer's Foundation, Duke University Medical Center, Box 3600, Durham, NC 27710.
