Warren Ashby Crawford, 59, of Roanoke, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2007, after a courageous ten year battle with cancer. Born January 26, 1947 in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Lawrence W. Crawford and Marie Crawford, who survives. A 1970 graduate of Roanoke College, he earned his Masters of Education Degree at Radford University. With a career of 33 years with Roanoke City Schools, he held various positions, currently as principal of Monterey Elementary School. Mr. Crawford was a member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons and was a Sunday School teacher. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38½ years, Judy Kitts Crawford; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Crawford Parris and Jim Parris; two grandchildren, Adam Warren Parris and Amy Elizabeth Parris; two brothers, Lawrence R. Crawford and Gary W. Crawford; and his mother-in-law, Frances M. Kitts.
