JERRY DOUGLAS HOWELL Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend Mar. 4, 1935 - Jan. 15, 2007 passed peacefully Monday morning in his home in Livermore surrounded by family at 71. Born to Otto Howell and Ruby Park in Oroville, CA he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a crew chief on a B-17 after graduating from high school in Hayward, CA in 1952. He was honorably discharged at Holloman AFB, New Mexico in 1956 and returned to the Bay Area where he went to work for the Golden Grain Macaroni Co. in San Leandro as a mechanic and met his future wife Cyndy. Jerry also worked for American (Ameron) Pipe Co. as a welder and lead man in Hayward and Tracy, and finally for UC Davis at LLNL. Jerry is survived by his wife of 47 years Cyndy DeAnda Howell, brother Charles Howell and his wife Doris, daughter Elena Prentiss, and son Simon Howell and his wife Lorri as well as four grandchildren Bradley Bishop and his wife Jennifer, Jerry Douglas Howell II, Jenifer Prentiss, and Krystalle Howell; and one great-grandchild Kylie Napoles. Jerry loved Big Band Swing music, dancing, and a good movie. His smile and friendship will be sorely missed by all those who new him. A private service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery in Hayward on January 23 at 2pm near where his mother and father rest.
