Edwin V. "Ed" Adams, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2007 at a local hospital.

He was born March 15, 1926 in Brooklyn, Arkansas to Joe William and Hazel McKay Adams. Ed was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, having served his country during WWII, Korean and Vietnam. Upon retiring from the Navy, Ed opened the Villa Italiano Restaurant in Flour Bluff. He and his wife, Myrtle and their children operated the Villa from 1971 to 1981. During this period, he twice served as President of the Flour Bluff Business Association. Unwilling to completely retire, he went to work as a Chef for Marine Drilling until 1986. He then proceeded to hold several part-time jobs until his final retirement in June 2006 from TAMU-CC. His goal was to remain as active as possible in his later years. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, four brothers and his beloved daughter, Darlene Duncan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Myrtle; his son, Adams of Mathis; daughter Grannell of Corpus Christi. He leaves his ten adored grandchildren. He also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren who brought him joy, Son-in-law Duncan and his wife one sister, Jeroma Crain and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sherron and staff for the excellent care over the years and the staff of 3 North, Doctors Regional Medical Center for the skillful, loving care they have provided him during his illness and for the kindness extended to our large family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Seaside Reid Chapel with Chaplain Dave Tosten officiating. Entombment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans Association.
