Jewell was united in marriage to Floyd Cannady, on November 30, 1945. After her husband tragically predeceased her in death in May of 1957. Jewell worked in the cafeteria at Parkview High School, for 16 years. She then went on to work at Cox Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1987 at the age of 65.
Jewell was a faithful and active member of High Street Baptist Church, where she served for over 60 years. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with her best friend and niece, Midge Murphy; spending time in her flower garden while bird watching; and, was self-taught in quilt making.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and James Inman; seven siblings, Mary Inman, Jimmy Inman, Florence Inman, Porter Inman, Lewis Inman, Jack Inman and Pete Inman; her husband, Floyd Cannady; and her oldest son, Danny Cannady. She is survived by her youngest son, Bobby Cannady; her daughter-in-law of 52 years, Anita Cannady; granddaughters, Dana Havens and her husband Rich Havens; Chrissy Brower and her husband Shawn Brower; one great-grandson, Jared Wright; three step-great granddaughters; and one step-great-great grandson.
Burial at the National Cemetery, Springfield.
