From the Clarion-Ledger, Jackson, Miss., March 27, 1924, p. 4:

Charles Alfred Lynch, 56, for more than 15 years an employee of the Alabama and Vicksburg, died last night at his home on Clinton boulevard following a brief illness. He is the second old employee of the road to die within the past two weeks. Conductor Bob Hall passed away at his home in Meridian two weeks ago concluding 30 years of faithful service with line.

Mr. Lynch was born in London, England, May 8, 1868, and came to America while in his early boyhood. He became engaged in railroad work soon after reaching manhood. While still a young man he moved to Hinds county. Fifteen years ago he became affiliated with the Alabama & Vicksburg railroad. Deceased was prominent in railroad fraternities being a member of the Knights of Pythias, Order Railway Conductors, 4 and Brotherhood of Maintenance of way.

Mr. Lynch is survived by his father Fred Lynch, his wife, Mrs. Lena Ragsdale Lynch; and five children, Lawrence H., Will S., Annie E., Alfred, and Mrs. N. A. Crittenden, of Port Arthur, Tex. All were at his bedside when death came.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4 o’clock from the home of Mrs. James O. Fuller, lifelong friend of the family at 233 Lemon street. Knights of Pythias will conduct the services. Pall bearers named as follows: Active, Will Bullard, W. O. Read, P. L. Broden, B. W. Willis, Dan Ferguson, I. Lehman and S. P. McRea. Honorary pallbearers will be made up of members of the fraternities of which Mr. Lynch was a member. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.
