According to the Gonzalez Family Tree on Ancestry, Prospero was the son of Jose 'Joseph' Gallando (1870 Spain) and Isabel Gallando (1872 Spain). However, Prospero was traveling with his widowed mother Carmen (Cardenas) Corrales (abt 1866) when he immigrated from Gibralter to Boston. They arrived on January 23, 1917 on the ship Cretic, listing their final destination as Brooklyn. His last residence was in Cadiz, Spain. Prospero's father was Joseph Corrales. He also had a sister named Carmen (1890-1972) like his mother. She married Joseph Quintero (born 1894).

He married Aldina 'Lena' in Brooklyn on November 16, 1924. Prospero was a chauffeur, residing at 1392 East 58th Street when he was naturalized on December 29, 1936.

Corrine Canales was possibly related because in 1920 Prospero and Corinne were both working at the phone exchange in Brooklyn. Corinne's paternal grandmother was Dolores Corrales.

Prospero and Lena were the parents of one known child, mentioned on Prospero's naturalization paper as being born December 14 1925, William G. Corrales or William Corrales-Gallardo.
