David Lewis Sarber, 80, passed away on January 4, 2017 at his home in Anchorage, Alaska. David was born in Tyner, Indiana on September 13, 1936. He moved to Alaska after attending college in 1958, making Alaska his lifelong home.

David was a proud Army veteran, serving his country from 1954-1957. He was employed by Alaska Airlines on Annette Island from 1959-1974. He then worked as a teamster on the Alyeska Pipeline construction from 1974-1978, and then later owning and operating the Fireside Lounge and Hogg Brothers Restaurant from 1978-2008.

David was an active member at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Anchorage, Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Kona and Funny River Lutheran Church in Kenai. His family states "grandpa was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time in the summer at their cabin on the Kenai River and winter at their condo on the Big Island of Hawaii. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was always ready to take them clamming or go for a 4-wheeler ride. When clamming he always said "every kid's a limit." Grandpa loved a good deal. There was never a garage sale he could ever pass by. He was a fantastic collector of things and will be missed by his family very much."

David is survived by his wife Nancy Sarber; son's Greg (Vicki) Sarber, Steve Sarber, and Kevin (Angela) Erickson; daughters Michelle (Mike) Holland and Krystal (Ronald) Smith.
Grandsons Michael Carter, Christopher Carter, David Holland, Nicholas Holland, Jaden Sarber, Hunter Sarber, Jackson Sarber, Shawn Erickson, Zachary Erickson, John Michael Wagner, Keedryn Haag, Barry Haag, and Marcos Pena; granddaughters Julia Miner, Pinky Sarber, Vianne Sarber, Leslie Johnston, and Nicole Manns along with sixteen great-grandchildren

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 8100 Arctic Blvd in Anchorage beginning at 3:00 PM. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
