Funeral services for Joann Spears will be held on Friday, March 17th, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Reed-Culver Chapel with Brother Jerry Henson officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 16th, 2017 from noon until 6:00 pm at Reed-Culver Chapel. Interment will take place at Hulbert IOOF Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Joann include Jimmy Wayne Potts, Bobby Spradlin, Nathan Garner, Christian Wolfe, and Terry Spears.
Joann Spears was born on October 8th, 1955 in Hulbert, OK, the daughter of Lin Glen and Ruby (Green) Spears. She grew up the sister to four brothers, Tommy, Jimmy, Billy, and Gary. She attended school in Hulbert. Joann was a homemaker by trade and was content to be at home. She spent time every day reading her Bible. You could often find her outside, feeding her birds and watching them fly, or collecting knick knacks for her great nieces and nephews, as tokens of her affection for them. Later on in her life, it became necessary for her to live at Cherokee County Nursing Center. She loved all the people there and enjoyed helping people any way she could. She was quick with her smile and loved to joke and tease all her friends. When the holidays rolled around, she was excited about going home to visit with her family and spend time chatting over a cup of coffee. A Christian by faith, she attended Swimmer Baptist Church. Her health began to fail her and Joann passed from this life on Monday, March 13th, 2017 in Tahlequah, OK, with her loved ones by her side. She was 61 years old. She will be greatly missed.
Joann is preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers, Tommy, Jimmy, and Billy Spears and her grandparents.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Tammy Spears of Seattle, WA, one brother, Gary Spears of San Antonio, TX, and her sister-in-law, Geneva Spears of Hulbert, OK. She has been cared for by her niece, Lacey Dawn Spears of Hulbert, OK, and her nephew, Terry Lin Spears of Watauga, TX, and leaves Kadesha Spears of Tahlequah, Ok, Jimmy Spears Jr or "Junior" of Eugene, OR and Michael Spears of Stilwell, OK, as well as many great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
