M. C. HALTERMAN, 84, RITES WEDNESDAY
MORY C. HALTERMAN, 84, of Henrietta, died at the Ray County Memorial hospital Sunday at 12:10 p. m. following a stroke, which he suffered Saturday at his home.
He was born June 1, 1877, in Rockingham County, Virginia, the son of Harvey and Lavina (Bobo) Halterman, both of Virginia. He came to Missouri in 1896, first moving to Hardin then to the Millville and Russellville communities.
Mr. Halterman was married to Sarah Ellen Bayer of Ray County, on Dec. 9, 1901. She died in 1955.
He is survived by five sons, Raymond of Excelsior Springs; Regis of Richmond; Estel J. and Eugene of Kansas City and Robert of Gilbert, IL; five daughters, Mrs. Anna Clemens and Mrs. Iris Mansur of Excelsior Springs; Mrs. Alice Pence of Sandwich, IL; Mrs. Gladys Ford, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Nadine Edgar of Richmond; three brothers, John Halterman of Hardin; Charles of Kansas City, and Clarence of Vincennes, Indiana; forty-five grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Mrs. Frances Early, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. at the Wakenda Church with burial at the Wakenda Cemetery. Borcherding funeral home of Hardin will be in charge of arrangements. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Halterman was a carpenter by trade and with his family had operated the Russellville telephone exchange more than 20 years.
