The former Florence (Piotrzkowski) Petroski was born on March 2, 1931 in Antigo, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Frank & Hattie (Hersant) (Piotrzkowski) Petroski. She entered the Convent in 1944 and professed her vows in 1949. Sister Florence earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Holy Family College (Silver Lake College of the Holy Family). Sister Florence served as a teacher at St. Joseph, Green Bay; St. Rose, Clintonville; St. John, Plymouth; St. Francis, Hollandtown; Holy Rosary, Kewaunee; St. Joseph, Rice Lake; St. Mary, Bloomington, all of Wisconsin; Guardian Angels, West Point, Nebraska; Principal at St. Mary, Bloomington; St. Joseph, Waukesha; St. Rose, Clintonville; St. Mary, Clarks Mills, all in Wisconsin; Nurse Aide: Ozanam Home, New Berlin; St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, of Wisconsin; St. Joseph Home, West Point, Nebraska; various school tasks at St. Mary, Clarks Mills and St. Anne, Francis Creek, Wisconsin. Sister Florence assisted with various tasks at St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. She had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center since 2010. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; one brother and two sisters-in-law: Donna (Piotrzkowski), John (Jean) Petroski; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Sister Raphael (Piotrzkowski) Petroski, OSF, Mary (Herb) Meyer, and Ken Barta. Nieces nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Hattie (Hersant) (Piotrzkowski) Petroski; one brother: Henry; and four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Anna (Walter Ridgeman, Joe Esser), Theresa (Felix) Spychalla, Sister Odilia (Piotrzkowski) Petroski and Dorothy (Petroski) Barta.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Finian Zaucha, O.F.M. with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
