Doug was born Dec. 14, 1953, in Pomeroy, where he grew up and graduated in 1972.

He worked odds-and-ends jobs until a wheat truck accident left his life uncertain. Through a lot of rehabilitation and perseverance, he was able to continue his passion of being a musician. He was very talented and admired by many. He was so talented that he and his band landed a recording contract through RCA records. He even turned down a spot in the band Judas Priest to continue touring with his then current band.
He had such a great love of music he continued to play shows locally. His last show was in November 2016, having to be carried on and off stage. A true diehard.

In September 1979, Doug married the love of his life in Pomeroy, where they stayed to raise their three boys.

Survivors names omitted per findagrave policy.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gloria Burke; his wife, Coni Herres; and his son, Michael Burke.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Pomeroy Public Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life with live music at a place to be determined at the funeral.
