This former well known resident of
this vicinity died at the home of his son
Isaac L. Varian, in Danbury,Conn
on Monday morning last at 5 O'clock He had been in failing health
for some time, and his physician had
warned his friends that the end might
come at any hour. He arose from his
bed at 8 o'clock and at 5 quickly passed
away, as it had been stated he might
do.
Mr. Varian was born in New York in 1823 and was a son of Mayor Varian
of that city He came to this vicinity in
1845, and located in the section ever since known as the
Varian's Mills, where he conducted
the milling business until a few years
ago. when failing health compelled him
to give up active labor
He was always active and prominent
in church work, and for many years
was an elder in the First Presbyterian
Church
