Chuck Greening, 79, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Shawnee.

He was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1937 to Charles Edwin and Reba Evalyn (Messick) Greening in Crowell, Texas.

Chuck was raised in Vernon and Crowell, Texas, but lived most of his life in McLoud, Oklahoma.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.

Chuck married Mary Jo Moore on January 18, 1997 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

During his work career he was a farmer, truck driver and oil field pumper.

He was a member of South Rock Creek Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion Post 260 and a member of the Kickapoo R.V. Travel Club.

Chuck had many hobbies during his life-time which included playing and singing in country-western bands for over 40 years, hospital volunteer at St. Anthony’s Hospital, racing at stock car races and earning his pilot’s license. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed teasing. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Ross; and his parents.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Mary Jo Greening of the home; 2 daughters, Jo Nolen and Karla Bryce of McLoud, OK; 2 step-daughters, Jody Akehurst of Shawnee, OK and Christie Crawford of Arlington, TX; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Harvey Greening of Amarillo, TX, Willie Greening and Gregg Greening of Vernon, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

The family has designated the Chuck Greening Memorial Fund, c/o: Rock Creek Baptist Church, 44900 Hardesty Road, Shawnee, OK 74801 as appropriate for memorials.

Visitation will be 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at South Rock Creek Baptist Church with Danny Napier officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
