Edward Colburn Lake, a resident of Traverse City for the last 36 years passed away Sunday morning at 9:45 am at the age of 75 years.
Mr. Lake was born in Tillsonberg, Ont., Jan. 1, 1858 and came to Michigan at the age of 20, locating here in 1897. He was united in marriage to Hannah Stocks at Whiterock, MI, in 1879. Mrs. Lake passed away June 12, 1899, and three children, Leamon Lake of Traverse City, Edward of Ashland, WI and Mrs. Ida VanVrandken of this city preceded him in death. He was married to Cary Berg Aug. 1905, and to this union were born two children, Lewis of this city and Mrs. Stella Foster of Grand Rapids, who survive, together with 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. E. La Fortune of Ontario, Canada.
Mr Lake joined the Maccabees at Forestville, Huron county forty years ago and for 22 years he was bed ridden from an logging accident.
The body was taken to the Sampson Funeral Home where it will lie in state until the time of services which will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Warren Jackson, pastor of the Baptist church will officiate and burial will be made in the family lot at Oakwood Cemetery.
