FISHERS – Irene J. (Petrie) Thomas, age 89, of Fishers, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at her residence. She was born on December 16, 1927 in Sunfield, MI as the daughter of Carl C. and Mierl E. (Feess) Petrie. She graduated from Sunfield High School in Sunfield, MI in 1946 and received her Secretary Diploma from Huntington University. Irene married Earl O. Thomas on July 1, 1950 in Sunfield, MI.
She was a loving mother and a homemaker. She attended Christ’s Community Church.
Irene is survived by her husband; four daughters; 1 brother; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Petrie and Maynard Petrie; sister, Dorothy M. Petrie; son-in-law, Mark Coy; and sister-in-law, Margaret Petrie.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ’s Community Church, 13097 Allisonville Rd, Fishers, IN 46038, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pastor Nate Pyle will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fountaintown Cemetery in Fountaintown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Christ’s Community Church, 13097 Allisonville Rd, Fishers, IN 46038, or envelopes will be available at the church. Friends may share a memory or a condolence at www.erleweinmortuary.com.
