Roger M. Schleis, age 80, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Thursday evening, March 16, 2017 at St. Mary's Home at Felician Village in Manitowoc.
Roger was born September 19, 1936 in Kewaunee. He was the son of the late Irvin and Ione Seidl Schleis. Roger grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1954. He then continued his education at the Green Bay Barber School from where he graduated in 1958. Roger owned and operated Schleis Barber Shop for 52 years retiring in 2009. On January 10, 1959 he married Sharon Luce at Emmanuel Methodist Church in Two Rivers. Roger was a member of Lakeshore United Methodist Church. He enjoyed deer hunting and waterfowl hunting and loved fishing on Lake Winnebago with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years: Sharon; three children: Jay (Karen) Schleis, Cameron; Jeffrey (Cheryl) Schleis, Holmen; Heather (Brian) Roberts, Madison; eight grandchildren: Dayna (Jake), Bradey (Sophie), Jena, Daniel, Garret, Sam, Joel, and Noah; three great grandsons: Quinten, Bentley, and Cooper; one sister-in-law: Kathy Kozlowski, Two Rivers; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Todd and Karen Luce, Two Rivers; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Irvin and Ione Schleis; one brother-in-law: Dale Kozlowski; and one great grandson: Baby Liam Schleis.
Memorial services will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Carly Kuntz. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of the cremains to take place at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Following the funeral service a luncheon will be held for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
