Retired Security Guard at Union Carbide, of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Wood Bates; a son, Mike Wood of Greer; stepdaughters, Ginger Larke of Greer and Alice Lee of Florence; stepsons, Danny Turner, Jake Turner, William Turner of Florence, David Turner of Panama City, FL, and Ted Turner of Mobile, AL; a brother, Robert Bates, of Mettapoisett, MA; a sister, Lorraine Williams, of New Bedford, Mass.; and several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Memorial service were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2002 at Greer Church of God.
