Amy Hadaway died of Cancer. I went to Junior High and some High School with her. I remember her being sick and wearing a wig when she was having treatments. She was such a quiet and sweet girl. Amy loved dolls and was buried with her favorite doll. Although my friend Kenneth Silva died when we were in the 3rd grade, this was the first funeral I ever attended of someone my own age - 15 at the time. I remember going with my friend Greg Underwood.

I see my own daughters, now 21 and can't even in my wildest dreams imagine the pain her parents suffered. She had a brother, Tom. I'm sure he was what kept them going.

I post these memorials of my childhood friends so they will never be forgotten. Time goes by, but almost 30 years later, my memories linger on.

I lost five friends to death by the time I was 18. Many people go years without experiencing one.

May we always know how precious life is and to value our loved ones daily.

POEM AUTHOR UNKNOWN:

Always a silent hurt,
many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory
of one we loved so dear.

God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you

...no one will ever know.
