He worked at the Boys & Girls Club for over 30 years. He served in the United States Marines. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 40 years, Alva Hagman; four children, Andre McNair, Keysha Hagman, James Hagman II, and Nytaya Hagman; three sisters, Gladys Fowler, Loretta Reid of Maryland, and Shelia Hagman-Mayze; and five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Monday, June 6, 2016 at Refuge Nation Church, 3509 Chestnut Ave., Newport News.
Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Viewing will be from 12-4 pm Sunday at O.H. Smith & Son Funeral Home.
