Floyd V. “Cuz” Anderson, age 81, passed away, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Floyd Vernon Anderson was born February 10th, 1932 in Gatewood, Missouri to Edward and Lucille (Collins) Anderson. Floyd was the youngest of three siblings. He had a brother Lawrence and a sister Daisy (both deceased). Floyd grew up around Naylor and Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He quit school in the eighth grade to help support the family by picking cotton.

In 1951, Floyd moved to St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 19 and began working at Krey Packing Co. He held many positions during his 26 year tenure before the company closed its doors in 1977. He worked for Hunter Packing Company for 7 years before moving the family to Sioux Falls in 1981 to work for John Morrell & Co. Many of the workers from Memphis also came to Sioux Falls. Floyd quickly became known as “Cuz” because of the bond he built with the other people that transferred from Memphis and St. Louis. He retired from John Morrell & Co. in 1994.

Floyd was united in marriage with Edna Humphrey on June 12th, 1965.Together they raised two daughters (Betty and Tammy) and two sons (Walter and James). He lost his wife in 2012. They were married 47 years.

Although he moved away from St. Louis, he would not lose his love for baseball. He was an avid Cardinals fan. He frequently wore Cardinals gear which always struck up a conversation. Floyd never knew a stranger. He loved talking to people and sharing stories.

Thankful for sharing his life and will treasure his memory are his daughters Betty Anderson and Tammy (Steve) Wichner; his sons Walter (Niki) Anderson and James Anderson; his eight grandchildren Robert (Yan) Wichner (24), Joshua Wichner (22), Zach Anderson (21), Kyle Wichner (20), Kirby Wichner (20), Sheri Wichner (18), Kari Wichner (18) and Jacob Marvin (16) all of Sioux Falls; his nephews Robert Phelps, Alan Phelps, Randy Phelps and Charlie Phelps, and a niece Teri Anderson.
