Halter, Johann Baptist (also shown as Baptist) (1815-March 1, 1886 –single –brother of Joseph Halter –son of Michael Halter and Katharine Ziegler –born Sendelbach, Amt Oberkirch, Baden –immigrated to the US on the boat New York departing from the Port of Havre, France, arriving in the Port of New York on Nov. 21, 1854 –this is the same boat Fr. Oschwald traveled in 1854, only some 4 months earlier –immigrating with Johann Baptist was his older brother Joseph –in the 1870 census for the Town of Eaton, Johann is shown living with his brother Joseph and what might be his sister Victoria [named Huber] –in the 1880 census for the Town of Eaton, Johann is shown living in communal house in St. Nazianz with his brother Barnard [age 65], his sister Victoria [single, age 55], and a nephew Ira [age 55]) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 1, Row 7, Lot 23 –no stone –in 2019 the St. Nazianz Area Historical Society placed a marker on this grave] [death record Manitowoc 3-326]
