Herbert Clinton Adams, 85, died at his home on December 12, 2009. He was born on March 26, 1924 in Manchester, CT to Albert Daniel and Marion Blanche (Gotham) Adams. In June of 1960 he married Dolores Dickinson in Tacoma, WA. He attended the University of Puget Sound graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was director of the Alaska Purchase Centennial from 1965-1967 and wrote a newspaper column for the Juneau Empire in the 60s called Adams Apple. He was a radio announcer for KJNO during the mid-60s, was director of an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program in Juneau from 1980-1985 and did graduate studies at the University of Alaska, graduating in 1982. Herb was a member of the Hood Canal Lions Club and a member of AA, recovered for 41 years. He loved to help people and enjoyed sailing, reading and running marathons. Herb is survived by his wife, Dolores Adams of Union, WA; sons, Charlie Adams of Seattle, WA, Mark Adams (Sheryl) of Gig Harbor, WA; daughter, Tracy Adams of Atascadero, CA; stepdaughter, Sunne Young of Skidegate, BC; sister, Rachel Lloyd of Hamilton, NY; brother, Albert Adams of Helena, MT; five grandchildren, Beverly Zoll, Jessica, Danielle, Halley and Angelina Adams; great granddaughter, Ashley Zoll; numerous nieces and nephews.
