JoAnn C. Walter, 85, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Laurel Run Nursing Home, Fayetteville, PA. Born January 4, 1932 in Fannettsburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert O. and Olive (Brown) Cox.

She was the wife of 54 years to the late Richard B. Walter whom she married February 27. 1953. JoAnn graduated from Sheffield Senior High School, Sheffield, PA, in the class of 1950. She later retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, where she was a Librarian for more than 30 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, bird watching and crafting.

JoAnn is survived by one daughter, Carol S. Fox and her husband Jeffery of Fayetteville and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to he husband, JoAnn was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Cox and three sisters, June Kelso, Gladys Cox, and JoAnn's twin Joyce Dailey.

The graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg. Pastor Tom Willis will officiate. The viewing will be 6:00-8:00PM, Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Kelso Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice, and both the Memory Care Unit and Skilled Care Units at Laurel Run for their loving care.
