Carrie Elizabeth Venters Cole was born July 25, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry and Carrie (Ward) Venters. She was married to Alonzo Cole for 55 years. This union was blessed with a son, Terry Louis Cole. For years, she worked at the Security Building running the elevator. Then later worked 32 years for Texas Power and Light before retiring. Carrie was a servant for God. Her great joys in life were her family, dear friends and her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Carrie was a beautiful, loving person who radiated joy; she had a tremendous capacity to spread laughter to whomever she encountered. She touched the hearts of many people, with her smile, her generosity, and her unending zest for life.
Carrie leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Carrie Venters, her husband, Alonzo Cole, son, Terry Louis Cole, brothers, Henry Venters and Briscoe Venters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cole will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Rev. James Wilson officiating. She will be laid to rest by her husband in Oakwood Cemetery. Carrie will lie in state Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from noon to 8 p.m.
