Gerald W. Schmidt, age 74, of Manitowoc, died on August 22, 2014, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay.
Gerald was born August 1, 1940, in Two Rivers, son of Emil and Lorraine Nack Schmidt. He attended Washington High School and graduated in 1958. On September 16, 1967, he married Gloria Samz at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers.
He was employed at Mirro Company until his retirement in 2001.
Gerald and his wife operated a farm in the town of Two Rivers for 45 years and then moved to Manitowoc. Gerald enjoyed hunting, Fishing, and his westerns and wrestling shows. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife: Gloria Schmidt; two sons and one daughter: William (Mary Jo) Schmidt, John (Sara) Schmidt and Teresa (Steve) Spiering; grandchildren: Amanda and Rachel Spiering; step-grandchildren: Amber (Jim) Mann, Jerad (Melissa) Grupe, Caitlyn Grupe (Matthew Laabs), Austin Sigl and Madison Horien; sister Shirley Lowder; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Beverly Schmidt, Donald and Gloria Samz, Wayne and Carol Mertens; aunt Frieda Nack; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dale Schmidt; nephews David Samz and James Lowder; niece Sally Lowder; parents-in-law Leo and Marcella Samz.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 17th and East Park Sts, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Arndt with burial in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers.
