Richard "Dick" Bouril, age 85, a resident at Harbor View Assisted Living, Manitowoc died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Harbor View.

He was born on March 8, 1932 in Manitowoc, son of the late George and Lynda (Mally) Bouril. Dick was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. On November 24, 1952 he married Ramona Gosz at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2016. Dick was a master plumber who owned and operated Dick Bouril Plumbing in Manitowoc, starting the business in 1956. He earned 9 letters in high school and received a football scholarship to the University of Wyoming. On the 1948 Lincoln High School Football Team, Dick scored 72 points; more than any previous player at the school. He was named to the All-Valley and All-State teams and was chosen as the Most Valuable Player by his teammates. He was an outstanding and very aggressive guard on the basketball court. In Track, Dick competed in the 100 Yard Dash, the Broad Jump and Pole Vault. In 1949 he set a record for Manitowoc by Pole Vaulting 11 feet 5 1/4 inches using a bamboo pole. Dick played football for the US Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He played baseball in the County Leagues and played football for the Manitowoc Braves. Dick also refereed and umpired for the Manitowoc Rec Department for 10 years. He was enshrined in the Lakeshore All-Sports Hall of Fame on April 26, 2000. He was a former member of the Manitowoc Elks Club, the Eagles and the Manitowoc Yacht Club.

Survivors include his children: David and Robin Bouril, Lodi, Wisconsin, Victoria and Jay Gable, New York, Lisa and Alan Johnson, North Carolina, Terri Jo and Duane Grothoff, Manitowoc and Richard Bouril, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Max, Chase, Samantha, Alexandra, Wyatt, Noelle and Adam; one brother and sister-in-law: Paul and Karen Bouril, Manitowoc; one sister: Mary Ann Frydach, Tampa, Florida; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: George and Nancy Gosz and Lloyd and Ruth Gosz, all of Manitowoc; dear friends and caregivers: Terri and Karl Birkenstock, special friends: Jr. Gosz, Norman, Jodi and Jake Ringmeier. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by one brother: John "Jack" Bouril; two brothers-in-law: Tony Gosz and Thomas Gosz.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. John Becker. Cremation will take place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, following services and burial of Richards cremated remains will take place at St. Anne Catholic Church Cemetery, Francis Creek at a later date where Military Honors will be accorded.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 (TODAY) at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Wednesday morning, March 29, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek.
