Marion I. Alexander, 92, died Friday, March 24, 2017, at Mountain View Center in Rutland. She was born on May 10, 1924, in Proctor, VT, the daughter of Rollin and Irene (Ladabouche) Burgess. She attended Proctor schools. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator at the Vermont Marble Co. Marion married Charles F. Alexander on June 23, 1946, in Pittsford, VT. They were married for 63 years before his passing in 2010. Marion loved animals and enjoyed refinishing furniture, but above all, her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Prenevost and husband Robert, of Bomoseen; a son, Terry Alexander and wife Susan, of Rutland; a daughter, Pamela Ellison and husband Mark, of Wardsboro; seven grandchildren, Jason Prenevost and wife Shellene, Kristen Ramey and husband Eric, Melissa Gaudreau and husband Tom, Brianna Youkov and husband Greg, Stephanie, Trisha and Mark Ellison; eight great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Sawyer Ramey, Elena and Millie Prenevost, Emma and Elizabeth Alexander, Logan and Jonathan Ellison. She was predeceased by her husband; five brothers, Stanley, Bernard, Harry, Ralph and Thornton; two sisters, Helena Denardo and Dorothy May; and a grandson, Jared Alexander. In honoring Marion's wishes, there will be no calling hours and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marion's memory may be made to Rutland County Humane Society,765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763. Arrangements are being handled by the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.
