Clara Margaret (Barnett) Stubbs Nicholas, age 100, passed away at the family farm in Union Township on March 29th, 2017. She was born in Trafalgar, Indiana to Albert Raphael and Alta May (Fix) Barnett.
When she was very young, her parents bought a farm west of Amity where she lived until her marriage. She graduated Valedictorian from Edinburgh Community High School in 1935.
In 1939, she married Clifford Oren Stubbs at Union Christian Church in Franklin Township. They had two children, Judy and Marvin, and resided most of their married life in Union Township. Cliff Stubbs died in 1991. She married Tom Nicholas of Nineveh in 1994.
She worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Franklin as Office Administrator for 27 years and retired in 1974.
She was a long-time member of Bargersville First Christian Church, active in Christian Women's Fellowship, secretary of Church Women United, and a volunteer at the Lord's Cupboard in Franklin for numerous years.
Her hobbies were gardening; making flower arrangements, collecting antiques, and painting (she took art classes for several years).
Son, Marvin J. Stubbs, and brothers, Richard W. Barnett and Full Col. Robert Barnett, preceded her in passing.
Margaret is survived by daughter, Judy Roseborough; daughter-in-law, Carol Stubbs; three grandchildren, Amy (Tom); Eric (Dawn) and Luke (Alyschia) and six great-grandchildren, Devin, Kacey, Grant, Hunter, Elyse and Lane.
Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, April 1st from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin.
