Edward A. Fulton, 49 of O'Fallon, IL born Oct 21, 1948 in Alton, IL died Saturday , August 29, 1998 in O'Fallon, IL. Mr. Fulton was a member of the O'Fallon United Church of Christ, former member of the O'Fallon Zoning Board of Appeals, Director of Bands at Marie Schaefer Jr. High School in O'Fallon and former Asst. Director of Bands at O'Fallon Twp. High School.
Ed was honored by O'Fallon Community Consolidated School Dist. 90 by having the newly constructed Junior High School named Edward A. Fulton Junior High School.
Ed has taught since 1970 in the O'Fallon school system and served one year as Director of Educational Services for Halpin Music Co., in Alton. He was the Southern Division State President of the Illinois Grade School Music Assn., State Vice President of the Illinois Music Educators Assn., President of Dist. VI of the Illinois Music Educators Assn., served 6 terms as President of the St. Clair County Music Educators Assn., President of the O'Fallon Classroom Teachers Assn., President of the Xi Tau Chapter-Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and President of the Consistory at O'Fallon United Church of Christ. He was a member of the American School Band Directors Assn. and the Illinois Grade School Music Assn.
He was a popular Guest Conductor at numerous band festivals and contests. He held numerous honors and awards.
As Director, Ed lead the Marie Schaefer Jr High School Band to 43 First Superior ratings out of the last 47 performances sponsored by the Illinois Grade School Music Assn.
Ed was preceded by his parents, Edward A. & Hazel Fulton(nee Fleming) and 2 sisters in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Karen E. Fulton(nee Stephens) of O'Fallon and 2 daughters, Melissa L. Tessereau of Novi, MI & Amy L. Fluton of Novi, MI and 2 sisters, Vicki & Bill Zinschlag of Worden, IL and Karen & Michael McCalla of Edwardsville, IL.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug 31 from 4-9 PM and Tuesday Sept 1 from 10:30 -2:30 at Marie Schaefer Junior High, O'Fallon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30, Sept 1 at Marie Schaefer Junior High with Rev. Howard Tobak officiating and speakers, Vilray Fulton and Al Scharf.
Burial at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
