Montgomery County, Virginia Personal Property Tax Lists, 1787-1812; July 14, 1787; William McGuire (born circa 1767 probably in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. William's father is recorded in the Pittsylvania tax list the same year) was recorded on Walker's Creek, 1 male 16-21 and no taxable property. John McGuire (brother) and Francis McGuire (brother or father?) were also recorded the same day.
Francis McGuire, Jr. and Nathaniel made land entries the same day in April 1790, also in Montgomery County, Virginia.
Nathaniel and Francis McGuire, Jr. were both living on the Long Hollow of Shaver's Creek, some distance to east of where Francis McGuire, Sr. lived. I think it was Francis McGuire, Jr. who sold some land to Brittain in 1798, not William.
In 1802, Nathaniel Brittain sold 230 acres to Daniel Dickenson. But also in 1802, Francis McGuire, Jr. is charged with tax on 230 acres. The 1803 deed to Francis McGuire, Jr. does not give the acreage but it is very likely it was the same 230 acre tract that appears on land tax records, in Francis' name, through 1838.
In 1803, Nathaniel sold some land to Francis McGuire, Jr., also on Shaver's Creek.
