Laurence De Camp, the son of John De Camp, was probably born either in the province of Picardie or Normandy about 1645. He arrived at New Amsterdam in 1664, in company with other Huguenots, from Holland.


Laurens Jansen de Camp married Aeltje Mandeville, daughter of Yellis Jansen de Mandeville and Elsje Hendricx, before 1677.

On 30th December, 1701, he joined in a Petition of the Protestants of New York to King William III. (N. Y. Col. Mss., vol. IV., p. 942), entitled "A list of the maj - part of the freeholders and inhabitants of Richmond County, Johannes de Campe; Larrens de Campe."


Witnessed the baptism of Jacob Power, son of Incree Pouwer and Gerritje Jillis Mandeville, on 25 May 1702 at Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, New York, (sponsors Louwerens Janse, Aeltie Mandeviel). Jacobus; parents: Encrees Pouwer, Gerritje Mandeviel.


In 1719, May 7th, he was Local Pastor of the Staten Island Dutch Church.
