He was born on September 14, 1915 in Pageville, Pa. to the late George Campbell and Millicent Spence Campbell.
He worked at Roger Brothers in Albion and for the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad where he worked for 28 years, retiring as a car inspector in 1978. He was a member of the Cranesville United Methodist Church where he had been an usher, trustee, and treasurer.
Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. Jones Campbell, whom he married on March 20, 1941 in Cranesville; also by a son, Richard G. Campbell on December 8, 2005; three sisters, Mamie Boyer, Helen Holder, and Vivian Bennett; and one infant brother at birth.
He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca A. Sherman and her husband James of East Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Campbell.
Burial will be at Girard Cemetery.
