Charles, 97, passed away peacefully at home, as was his wish, on November 26, 2006. He was born in Waverly, Missouri on February 5, 1909. At the age of 17 with the help of a judge and a court order, he joined the U.S. Navy and served 23 years, including service in World War II. He was then employed in federal Civil Service at North Island for 24 years as an airplane mechanic, working on the combat jets from the war in Vietnam. His wife Berniece of 65 years passed away 2 1/2 years ago at the age of 92. Those he leaves behind include two daughters, Carol Cox and Brenda Peter, a son-in-law, Richard Peter; a granddaughter, Samantha Peter and a grandson, Rick Peter. A true family man, his sole interest in life was his family and he was always willing to do whatever they wanted to do. He was a very kind, sweet and caring man and truly one of a kind. Funeral services are pending with Featheringill Mortuary. Interment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at a future date.
