Chairman of the executive committee of the First Boston Corporation from 1934 to 1937 and chairman from 1948 to 1951. He had been a member of the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America, a trustee and treasurer of the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine and of Community Hospital in Glen Cove, L.I.; a trustee of St. Luke's Home for Aged Women and a director of the Episcopal Church Foundation. He had also been a vestryman of St. Bartholomew's Church here and of St. Paul's Church, Glen Cove.
