Katherine Adams Williams
Katherine Adams Williams of Fallbrook passed away Tuesday, January 14, 1997. Born December 29, 1900, in Lamar, Colorado, she was 96.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Williams. She is survived by her son, David C. Williams, of Albuquerque, N.M. She and Donald were married June 22, 1928, in Claremont, California. Katherine held a BA degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Pomona College, graduating in 1924. She went on to get her Ph.D. in Psychology, with a minor in Philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley in 1928. For the next year she and Donald visited major European Universities on a Sheldon Traveling Fellowship that Donald had received. She did post doctorate work from 1929-1930 at Radcliffe University. She also taught one semester of Psychology and Logic at Los Angeles City College in the spring of 1931. Despite her early professional accomplishments, after the birth of her first child, Donald, in 1931, she was proud to consider herself a mother and homemaker.
Katherine was also very active in civil affairs, including public school quality in Massachusetts. She was involved in community planning in the Fallbrook area and had a lively interest in political matters. Katherine had a number of charitable interests, including humane treatment of animals and the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in Katherine's name to the North County Humane Society, 2905 San Luis Rey Road, Oceanside, CA 92068.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. today, Jan. 18, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel with the Rev. Robert Cunningham officiating. Interment will take place at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary.
