Calvin Raeford Carter, 73, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 28, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Wayne County to the late Raeford Warrick Carter and Sallie Womble Carter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved fur baby Storm.

Calvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He retired from Duke Power after 30 years of dedicated service. He was an avid music lover. He enjoyed shagging and playing beach/rhythm and blues at Gaston College WSGE 91.7 where he was known as "DR CC".

Left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 52 years, Alice Gilliland Carter, his son Calvin Raeford Carter, II (Cyndi); daughters, Kimberly Anne Carter and Kelly Carter Ellis; grandchildren, Michael Cordova, Marta Correll, Jack Carter, Bella Carter and Chancelor Ellis; great-grandchildren, Sophia Britton; Brother, Niven Carter

Celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 31st at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Brian Mitchell officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 1 hour prior to the service.
