Roy Hickman, 78, of Elizabeth, died Monday afternoon, February 13, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, following a long illness.

Mr. Hickman was born in Wirt County February 16. 1888, a son of the late Thomas and Sarah Williamson Hickman. He had spent his lifetime engaged in farming in the Palestine area, and had retired a few years ago. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church, Rt. 2, Palestine, and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, Palestine Council No. 33.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs, James L. (Clara) Alfred, Parkersburg, and and Mrs. James B. (Thelma) Harman, of Belpre, Ohio; a son Donald Hickman, Rt. 2, City, Palestine Road; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Turner, Parkersburg; four grandchildren and a number of Nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Hickman, one daughter, two sisters, and four brothers.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Feb. 16) at the Bethesda Baptist Church in Palestine. Officiating minister was the Rev. Paul Higgins of Palestine. Interment was in the church cemetery.
