Mary J. Armstrong (née Rockie) was born on April 1, 1850, to John and Christina (neé Fairgrieve) in Andover, Massachusetts. She married John Armstrong on December 28, 1871, and had seven children together: William, John, Jennie, Elizabeth, James, Charles, and Matthew. Mary died on April 27, 1909 at her home in Philadelphia, PA. She was buried in Fernwood Cemetery four days after, on May 1st.
